Reducing fungicide use: positive results on a pilot plantation in Colombia

Thursday, May 7th, 2026 in: News

We reproduce below a report from the French Agricultural Research Centre for International Development (CIRAD) on the positive results of a pilot plantation proving that an ambitious agro-ecological transition is possible.

Thanks to a multi-player approach and the scientific and technical support of CIRAD, fungicide use has been scaled back, while maintaining yields and the fruit’s compliance with the specifications.

This project, funded by LIDL France, in partnership with AZ France and Tecbaco (Colombia), illustrates how co-design between industry players can transform agricultural practices and contribute to the common good. However, the agro-ecological transition can only be sustainable if the increased risks associated with adopting more virtuous practices is shared across the whole value chain.
